The 2017 Bacchus awards, directed by the Spanish Tasters Union (UEC), are already here. Our Granbazan Amber Label 2016, has been awarded a silver medal.

This year they celebrate the fifteenth edition with a participation of 1,751 wines from 21 countries.

Blind tasting by the 85 judges at the Casino de Madrid on March the 10th and 13th. Among the jury were 15 Masters of Wine (John Salvi, Annette Scarfe, Xenia Irwin, Victoria Burt, Sarah Jane Evans, Pedro Ballesteros, Matthew Forster, Emma Symington, Lenka Sedlackova, Sam Harrop, Madeleine Stenwreth, Ulf Sjodin, Taina Vilkuna y Emma Dawson) in company of world sommelier referents such as Terry Kandylis, Guillermo Cruz y Julie Dupouy, and wine buyers from some of the most important importers and international distribution chains (the British Conviviality and Booths, the Dutch Ahold or the Swedish and Finnish monopolies) and specialized journalists and representatives of the world’s leading wine institutions. This is another example that the prestige of an international event such as the Baco International Wine Contest has.

There are wines from a total of 80 quality geographical indications of spanish wine, with 61 Denominations of Origin. In addition to Spain, wines from five continents were tasted: Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Slovakia, United States, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Principality of Andorra, Czech Republic, Romania , Tunisia, Turkey, and Uruguay.
